I learned of Inheritance Of Hope from my sister who was doing research on how to get a dream trip to Disney for my family and me. In May of 2009 I was diagnosed with stage 4 appendix cancer, prognosis= 2 years. I have 2 very young children (4-1/2 and 2) and we hadn't had a chance to be on a family vacation since diagnosis.
My sister took care of most of the paperwork for the Disney Retreat 2011. The paperwork I needed to fill out was simple and Jill was wonderful about helping me jump through the hoops I needed to.
When the retreat came around everything was choreographed perfectly.
We had a dream vacation- it was so nice to be able to experience my family without a worry. IOH took care of the hotel, food, park passes and even gave us water to take along with us to the parks. (we all know who pricey water is at the parks)
There are so many things to than IOH for- the Legacy Video (where I was taped answering questions I think my children would like to know about me), the group discussions with other families facing the same delimmas and struggles as me, the volunteers who were so wonderful with my girls- doing great activites with them and taking them to the park while my husband and I had one night to ourselves. We even had a wonderful volunteer, Shelly, come with us to the parks to help wrangle our girls and hold our place in line.
Kristen and Derek Milligan have hit the mark with Inheritance of Hope. It's a great organization- I would not have been able to afford a vacation like that with my family. I now have great, worry-free memories with my girls. And my girls have pictures that will last forever.
