My previous attempts to support veteran causes only ever reminded me of how much more I should be doing. After being forced to turn attention toward my health, I set sights on volunteer roles wherein I could be of some help to others while rebuilding confidence. Code Platoon provided an opportunity to do more for those who gave their all, and unexpectedly changed my own outlook thanks to the incredibly insightful, thoughtful and genuine people I came into contact with.
Code Platoon completely changed the trajectory of my life. The staff and volunteers are amazing and dedicated. They’ve really created a superb community for veterans. I’m now able to give back to that community and support myself financially thanks to Code Platoon giving me a new profession and a reason to stay motivated.
I am a Marine Veteran. I've spent 5 years in Supply and Logistics and as I began my transition out of the marines I was trying to figure out a way to move into a career in software engineering. Code Platoon was my solution. I had thought about taking the first job I could find then studying on my own to get to a level that I could be hired at. I am so glad I did not do that. In the 14 weeks of study, I acquired a greater depth of knowledge in Software Development than I could have attained in over a year of studying on my own.
This course was tough and very demanding of my time, however, I have no regrets. The quality of instruction and depth of understanding gained in each area covered is unparalleled. I hope this review has been helpful to you in your decision-making process. Please reach out to me on LinkedIn if you have any questions. linkedin.com/in/conlin-mcmanus-78a39128
Code Platoon changed my life, launched my career, and gave me the support that I was lacking trying to reach my goals on my own. I'd been working on getting into a more technical career field for four years. It was a slow process and when it came down to it, I didn't have the confidence or experience to show at interviews. I was missing the hands on, practical skills that come with software development. Code Platoon provided intensive training and practice, building the skills that employers are looking for and the confidence needed to highlight those skills in the interview.
I met Rod Levy, the CEO of Code Platoon, little over a year before he envisioned the company. A product of a bootcamp himself, he was well positioned to leverage the community for a successful, productive, and creative way to serve the veteran community: teach them to code.
I serve on the Code Platoon board as a curriculum and technical advisor. Having run a bootcamp myself, I know some of the pitfalls that can derail a cohort. Rod has assembled a stunningly adept and impactful crew both at the board and staffing levels. The Code Platoon board is without a doubt the most well run and well staffed board on which I have ever served. Each board meeting is stacked with vision, strategy, trajectory, and a view into the current student roster. It is clear that everyone in the room has the same mission in mind: to serve those who have served.
The people that run the day-to-day at Code Platoon, including marketing, operations, hustling for funding, and of course instruction, are some of the most enthusiastically dedicated people I’ve ever worked with and it’s humbling experiencing this journey by their side.
Code platoon has literally changed my life. The quality of the information and teaching is superb. They not only helped me land an internship but they gave me other skills and exposure that I would not have gotten otherwise. I gained 3 lifelong mentors (I still meet with them till this day), a wealth of information that propelled me to new heights, and great experiences. If you truly want a boot camp that prepares you for the tech industry, specifically full stack web development, then CP (Code Platoon) is where you want to come. You will NOT be disappointed.
Our heroes deserve the opportunity to leverage what they accomplished in the military and focus on a career that has unlimited growth potential. Code Platoon makes this happen in a structured and brilliant way. As a veteran, technologist, and advisory board member, it makes me so proud to see the brilliant veterans and their families succeed as Code Platoon Grads!
I serve as a board member for Code Platoon, I find it incredibly rewarding to help these deserving students get a start in the tech world.
It been great to see the students grow from know very little about programming to grow in to successful programmes at a wide variety of companies.
It's nice to know that there are organizations that really serve and honor our military veterans and their spouses in today's day and age. The greatest need that I've seen veterans have is relevant job training and employment post service. Code Platoon truly serves the veteran community - they have an average salary increase of 62% after finishing the program!
