A few years ago, in my neighborhood there was a stray female Pitty that was running loose for some time. Sweet as can be but a neighbor didn’t like her hanging around his chicken coop and he shot her, bullet grazing down her spine. Animal Aid was absolutely amazing. They picked her up and got her completely taken care of and back to health. They were so kind and kept in contact before picking her up even kept me updated with her progress to recovery. She had the sweetest ending though, months after Bryleigh was taken in by Animal Aid, A girl had contacted me regarding a “Found” post of Bryleigh I had posted before she went to Animal Aid. Come to find out, Bryleigh was her dog and she had been missing for 2 years! Bryleigh was able to be reunited with her owner! Because of Animal Aid of Tulsa, Bryleigh got a second chance on life and got to go home safe and sound.
They are so passionate about their mission to save injured and homeless animals. Tulsa is so fortunate to have these incredible people who care about saving the adorable little lives of the too-many strays we have in our state. There needs to be better laws to protect them, but in the meantime AAOT is literally to the rescue. I have fostered 3 dogs so far, and working with the other volunteers has made it so easy.
I adopted a lab/hound mix from Animal Aid in 2021. Animal Aid was very flexible, and the adoption process went smoothly. They provided excellent advice as how to integrate the new to us dog into an existing dog and cat household.
I got my Gracie through Animal Aid. She wasn’t expected to make it when they found her. She was thrown out in a wooden box still alive. People can be so inhumane. A lot of vets and surgery she made it Five years later you wouldn’t recognize her. So many more stories to be told but all the volunteers make this program exceptional. Please donate or volunteer your time
Upon finding a severely injured kitten at a local pool, I contacted Animal Aid who worked with me to immediately make arrangements to come to the aid of this little boy. I drove him to the thrift store location where they were waiting to whisk him off to a nearby veterinarian for surgery on his broken back leg. They named him Quill and have worked to stabilize him (turns out he has multiple injuries) in preparation for the surgery. I am so impressed with their professionalism and kindness. They have posted regular updates on social media about Quill along with updates about all of the other animals they are helping simultaneously. I love the work they do connecting the community to the animals through interesting activities (i.e., Paws and Pilates) and their ceaseless dedication. Whenever I have clothes or housewares to donate, I always take them to their thrift shop because it is such a good cause. The store is also a great resource for the community since their prices are so reasonable. I also love that when the animals recover, they find them good adoptive homes. Five stars for Animal Aid of TULSA!!!
